Juan Alfaro: Theology of Human Progress
Juan Alfaro SJ was born in Carcastillo-Navarra (Spain). He studied in Oni (Spain), at the Biblical Institute and Gregoriana in Rome, where he received his doctorate. Since 1952, professor of dogmatics at Gregoriana; 1964—1969. general prefect of studies at the same university. As an expert, he participated in the Second Vatican Council and the Third Synod of Bishops in 1971 in Rome. He is a member of the International Theological Commission and advisor to the editors of the international theological journal Concilium. He wrote a number of articles and studies, was a contributor to famous theological collections: Lexikon für Theologie und Kirche, Sacramentum Mundi, Mysterium Salutis. He also published several books, which were translated into other languages. The most famous are: Hacia una teologia del progrese humano (Theology of Human Progress), 1969; Esperanza cristiana y liberacion del hombre (Christian Hope and the Liberation of Man), 1972; Cristologia e antropologia (Christology and Anthropology), 1974.
