The book is a collection of works by 13 distinguished philosophers, sociologists, linguists and theorists of gender studies from Croatia, Serbia, BiH and Slovenia (Lino Veljak, Jelisaveta Blagojević, Svetlana Slapšak, Nikola Skledar, Gordana Bosanac, Jasenka Kodrnja, Mladen Labus, Daša Duhaček, Svenka Savić, Mrijana Adamović, Ana Maskalan, Marjana Harcet, Sanja Kajinić). The idea for this book arose during the preparations for the international symposium Man and Culture of the Croatian Philosophical Society, which was held in 2007 on Cres. Then a group of scientists working on the project of the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb Identity of Others connected the theme of their project with the theme of the symposium. Conceptually, the book presents and contrasts the modern and postmodern paradigms, showing their reach and limitations.
