"Peter Kanavelić's contribution to the Croatian Passion heritage" is a scientific monograph authored by Ph.D. Hrvojke Mihanović-Salopek and Ph.D. Vinicija B. Lupisa, published in 2009 in the publication Ogranka Matica hrvatska Split. This 304-page book brings an important literary-historical and cultural discovery - for the first time, it publishes and analyzes in detail the previously unknown manuscript of Kanavelić's dramatic poem about the Passion of the Christ. 

  • Reason: The book was inspired by the discovery of the Šipan manuscript from the 18th century in the parish office of St. Stjepan on the island of Šipan, which was discovered by Vinicius B. Lupis.
  • Content of the manuscript: It is about the dramatic song "The Passion of Our Lord Jezus Isukarst", which was written by Petar Kanavelić and which was first staged on his native Korčula in 1663 (and again in 1678).
  • Structure of the work: The monograph is divided into scientific analyzes by both authors and a critical transcription of the original text. drama.
  • Hrvojka Mihanović-Salopek: Focuses on the literary theoretical and textological aspects. Analyzes Kanavelic's contribution to Croatian baroque literature, the structure of his "Passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ" and the metrical and stylistic features of the song.
  • Vinicije B. Lupis: It deals with the historical, genealogical and artistic context. He explores the history of the Kanavelić family, its artistic legacy and the Passionate artistic heritage of Korcula and Pelješac. He especially analyzes the phenomenon of the Baroque Stations of the Cross in the churches of that area.
