Mirko Magarašević: Map of Serbian poetry
Here, in the initial selection, a poetic map of the classics and contemporaries of Serbian poetry is shown; although this choice does not fully encompass the author's idea, it gives the reader the opportunity to see what is crucial and superior in Serbian poetry - that is, to recognize what is important for contemporary sensibility and what brings cognitive and emotional freshness. The author follows the classics of Serbian poetry from Dositej to Hristić, but Dis, Dučić and Rastko, Nastasijević, Popa and Vinaver, as well as Miodrag Pavlović deserve special attention. The names of the poets who contributed the most to the development of language and emotions in contemporary Serbian poetry are not always equally visible, which is why literary criticism today expects more attention to be paid to their poetry. The best contemporary poets are and remain a living benchmark for future poets - either as a role model or as a challenge for comparative analysis. The poetry that follows always owes something to the one that preceded it. And although sometimes it seems that we don't have to look back, experience reminds us that poetry is a permanent challenge to our experience and emotions - that it forms the very core of our culture.
