Poem in Prose and Material Imagination in Danijelo Dragojević's Poetics

The manuscript On the Trail of the Tortoise by Branislav Oblučar combines a literary theoretical and interpretive approach. The author's presentation of the topic varies between principled, finely measured, consideration of phenomena such as genres, prose poems, essays and imagination on the one hand, and appropriate and lucid readings of carefully selected texts-examples from thematic works on the other. Skillfully moving between details and global characteristics, individual figure and imaginative archetype, text and genre, combining procedures and insights of motive, stylistic and genre analysis, the author built a complex hermeneutic apparatus with which he appropriately observed and interpreted genre ambivalence, poetic shifts, rhetorical, stylistic and cognitive changes in Danijela Dragojević's oeuvre. His propositions are well-argued, based on textual analysis, appropriate and often revealing.

The scientific contribution of the work is two-fold, because the work provides the most thorough scientific and critical description of Dragojević's poetics in domestic professional literature to date - both his poetry collections and essay discussions - with a series of interesting insights both on a general level and when reading individual poems and collections, but it is no less important that Oblučar shed light on many aspects of prose poetry as an extremely fluid genre that persistently eludes exact theoretical explanations and classifications. Using almost the entire relevant theoretical and literary-historical literature on this phenomenon, he indicated the direction and parameters in which a serious reading of texts located in that tradition or based on it should move.
