One of the most important Croatian handbooks for the study of Greek literature presents a literary-historical and interpretive view of the Homeric, lyrical, tragic and comedic literary works of the ancient Greeks.
This book combines Sironić's discussions published from 1961 to 1987 in the magazines "Forum", "Živa antiquity" and "Linguistica". The texts are classified according to their basic contents and according to the chronological and generic principle.
Milivoj Sironić (Trviž in Istria 1915-Zagreb, 2006), professor emeritus of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, associate member of HAZU, belongs to the circle of the most prominent contemporary Croatian classical philologists and Grecists. He is the author of a series of basic manuals and textbooks on Greek literature and the Greek language and the translator of numerous Greek works, especially Euripides' tragedies and Aristotle's and Plato's philosophical works.
