Marjorie Perloff: Make It New
Selected Essays
Books on contemporary poetry, written with contemporary approaches, are not often translated. One such book appeared in front of our readers despite everything. It is a collection of essays by the respected American critic and historian of poetry, Marjorie Perloff.
Perloff is a professor of comparative literature at Stanford University and is considered one of the most important interpreters of poetry of the 20th century. The book, entitled "Make it New", presents a selection of ten essays from her extensive body of work. In them, Perloff deals with poets ranging from Goethe, Rimbaud, Williams, Beckett, T.S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath to Georges Perec, as well as a futuristic manifesto and contemporary conceptual writing.
