Summary

Darko Glavan: Arteria

In addition to Glavan's, the introduction to the text is signed by art historian Tonko Maroević, the foreword by journalist Dorotea Jendrić, and the afterword by art historian Leila Mehulić, while the design is written by Sanja Bachrach-Krištofić and Mario Krištofić, who started working on the monograph with Darko Glavan during his lifetime and completed it according to his instructions and working material left behind. The book is co-signed by members of the Glavan family - his wife Daniela, and his son Daniel Glavan is actually the publisher of the monograph.

Darko Glavan successfully combined all forms of art. He was a comparatist, art historian and art critic on the one hand and a rock wolf or music critic on the other, which is what the public remembers him for the most. He knew many people, was a great humanist and often questioned new phenomena in fine art with fellow artists. That is how he became part of the advice of Arteria Gallery, which from 1994 to 1999 was one of the most important smaller galleries with large exhibitions.

The phenomenon of Arteria Gallery on the Zagreb exhibition scene was hidden in its openness to different styles and appearances of all artists on the scene. And Darko Glavan also had that quality. He supported the idea of the founder and art director, Zlatan Vrkljan, about a gallery of open possibilities. Because here, in those five years of existence, painters, sculptors and authors of installations from all over Croatia and the region presented their art.

In order for Galeria Arteria not to go into oblivion, the monograph is also a reminder of the active years of exhibitions. About sixty fine artists exhibited in what was then the first private initiative in the gallery business. And Darko Glavan called them the "hard core" of the gallery.
