Summary
Edo Murtić "Pictures 2003 - 2004."
"Pictures 2003 - 2004." is the name of the prominent monographic exhibition and associated catalog of one of the most important Croatian painters of abstract expressionism, Eda Murtić.
The exhibition was held in the Art Pavilion in Zagreb in the period from May 19 to June 26, 2005.
Key context and significance of the exhibition
Posthumous presentation: Edo Murtić died in January 2005. This exhibition was planned in collaboration with him just before his death, so in the end it was realized as the first major exhibition of the cycle without the presence of the author himself.
Last creative momentum: The exhibition presented to the public Murtić's last completed cycle of paintings created in the last year and a half of his life. The works exuded incredible energy and vitality, which is why the critics described them as proof of the author's insatiable need for expression, and not as a classic testamentary work.
Author of the concept: The author of the exhibition and foreword in the catalog was the distinguished academician and art historian Tonko Maroević.
