Summary
Grgo Gamulin: Croatian sculpture XIX. and 20th centuries
The value of this work lies in mastering the enormous amount of positive material scattered in many monographs, studies and critical reviews, and in the original methodological approach that enabled the author to follow the totality of artistic life in temporal continuity.
In addition to the great names of Croatian sculpture such as Rendić, Meštrović, Lozica, Kršinić, Augustinčić, Radauš, Angeli-Radovanij, Bakić, less well-known sculptors, stonemasons and lesser-known ceramic artists. In particular, it is worth emphasizing the scientific apparatus with which the work is accompanied, numerous and often very extensive notes with other people's views and opinions.
This work of exceptional scientific and cultural value will fill a long-present and sensitive gap in the Croatian art heritage and the history of Croatian sculpture.
The book is richly illustrated with 300 duplex photographs and 100 color photographs, which thoroughly documents the work of our sculptors.
