Summary
Matko Peić: Slava Raškaj
The monograph Slava Raškaj is dedicated to one of the most important Croatian painters from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. In this study, Matko Peić provides a biographical and art-critical account of the artist's life and work, with a special emphasis on her watercolors, which occupy a prominent place in Croatian modernism.
The author analyzes the development of her expression, thematic cycles (landscapes, vedutes, flower motifs), as well as sensitivity to light, atmosphere and color nuances. The book places Slava Raškaj in the wider context of the Croatian art scene at the end of the 19th century and points to her lasting contribution to national art.
The work is richly illustrated with reproductions of works (in most editions) and is intended for students of art history, researchers and lovers of Croatian art heritage.
