Pieter Van Der AA: View of Hvar
Pieter van der Aa (1659 - 1733) Dutch cartographer, artist and publisher who worked in Leiden at the beginning of the 18th century. Most of his cartographic works are copies of older ones, but they differ in their special, very precise and elegant style. In 1701, he published a travel collection Cartes Des Itineraires Et Voyages Modernes in 28 volumes with richly illustrated small maps. The highlight of his work are the atlases Nouvel Atlas printed in 1714, that is Galerie Agreable Du Monde in 27 volumes from 1729.
