Vesna Girardi Jurkić is a distinguished archaeologist, she was the director of the Archaeological Museum of Istria, an antiquities expert, the first Croatian Minister of Culture, ambassador to UNESCO, author of more than a hundred exhibitions on the topic of archeology and archaeological sites, author of several hundred scientific papers, winner of the seven highest state awards, honorary citizen of several of our cities and much more. Thanks to her, the complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč and the urban complex of the city of Trogir were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997, and the Cathedral of St. Jakov with the Sibenik city center in 2000. The book FROM ARCHEOLOGY TO POLITICS - My conversations with the media (1981-2010) includes a selection of interviews she gave during her lifetime. The interviews show how realistic and courageous she was, how she created public cultural policy, how she coped and how she solved concrete tasks and problems with which she enthusiastically thought projectively. This book indicates her attitudes and work achievements in all life and work phases of scientific, cultural and political activities that were never resolved by a populist note.
