From time immemorial to the present day, both individuals and societies, states, international alliances and communities, whether in war or peace, privately or publicly, have used information and disinformation to achieve the greatest possible benefit for themselves, and to induce opponents and enemies to work to their own detriment. So, information and misinformation, truth and lies, have always been an integral part of human communication and social knowledge, throughout human history. In this regard, information and misinformation are an unchanging determinant of social communication and the formation of (public) knowledge, regardless of changes in communication technologies, social systems and international orders.
Scientific research and study of information only began in the middle of the 20th century, when information science emerged as one of the "communication" sciences that have information as their research object. Under the imperative of the twentieth century that "science is a key factor in development", since the 1960s, information science has dealt primarily with the organization and exchange of scientific information and scientific knowledge, with no interest in researching disinformation...
