It is less known that in his time Bošković was also known as a famous European poet, the author of the Latin song Eclipse of the Sun and the Moon (De Solis ac Lunae defectibus). In it, following the example of the Roman writers Lucretius and Virgil, Bošković interprets natural, cosmological and mythological phenomena in verses, explaining, connecting and comparing his own observations with the then-current natural-scientific theoretical positions of Newton, Kepler, Copernicus, Galileo, skilfully intertwining classical poetry with scientific prose expression. XVI., a total of 5621 verses) was created for a full 25 years.
1761. becomes a member of the English Academy Royal Society. Bošković dedicated this edition to that academy.
