Ars ahumana: antropocenske ontografije u umetnosti i kulturi 21. veka

Filipović Andrija

Summary

Andrija Filipović: Ars in the title of the book is ambiguous. Ars, as we usually translate today, means art. In this sense, the author in this book talks about different artistic practices that he considers to have a direct connection with the non-human. On the other hand, ars also means skill. In this sense, the author considers different techniques that are used to construct the ahuman and to understand the ahuman. The inhuman is what is revealed in the third orthogonal projection, in depth, as transcendence against the two-dimensional plane of immanence. Depth and transcendence serve as an ontological support for the critique of immanence, because immanence today is the relative (if not absolute) immanence of capitalism, and its main effect is the extinction of plant and animal species, pollution and exploitation of the environment and global warming - the Anthropocene - with patriarchy and its associated forms of gender and sexuality.

We need the dimension of depth and transcendence in order to be able to conceptualize resistance to the immanence of capitalism and the Anthropocene, imagine the post-capitalist and post-anthropocene future as radically open or closed depending on which form of (non)living is our starting premise. This is why we are talking about the skills needed to build the third dimension as a depth of transcendence. The skills to discover and produce depth are found in art, but can be found elsewhere. Resistance practices based on the dimension of depth would imply, in the most optimistic spirit, the construction of the world on a completely different ontopolitical basis in the opening towards the non-relative absolute that lies in the transcendent dimension. In a less optimistic sense, thought-feeling practices of resistance would require becoming resilient and persevering in the ruins that create destructive forms of life at the level of relative immanence, as well as repurposing what is in a given state of affairs and preserving what is appropriated remains within the plane of relative immanence.
