Summary
Predrag Slijepčević: Futurism: elements of a new philosophy of nature
"Predrag Slijepčević's book "Futurism - Elements of a new philosophy of nature" is a collection of a little more than a dozen shorter and longer essays through which the author speculatively and critically reflects on the ways in which the dominant and often silent achievements of contemporary scientific and technological civilization color our attitude towards the future of humanity, both in terms of a naive vision and the same future, as well as in terms of the path we are moving with the optimistic idea of realizing that vision. Relying on his expertise in the field of biological sciences, Slijepčević observes the current state of humanity through the lens of a dynamic system, but does not dwell on a simple scientific model of describing the situation, but presents an interpretation that uses a poetic key that finds its sources in a wide spectrum of creative results, from classical myths to rock music."
From a review by Prof. Dr. Goran Rujević
"Perhaps the contemporary bioethicists and philosophers have rightly asked whether the cognitive improvement of man is inseparable from his moral improvement. On the horizon of metaphors about the rise and self-destruction of human civilization, according to Predrag Slijepčević, there are Gete, Niče, Špengler and Hajdeger, and finally Borislav Pekić with his trilogy about the self-destruction of civilization ("Fury", "Atlantida" and "1999")... In any case, in the book before us I certainly would not recognize pessimism, just as Slijepčević did not recognize it in Pekić."
