The two volumes are bound together. Contents at the beginning of each volume. Numerical notes below the text. Reworking of Dalmatia and Montenegro by the English writer, travel writer and Egyptologist John Gardner Wilkinson (October 5, 1797 - October 29, 1875), published in London in 1848. It contains ten chapters, six of which are in the first volume and four are in the second volume. In the first volume, the first chapter is about the language in Dalmatia, religion and the arrival of the Slavs in Dalmatia, the next four chapters are travelogues, while the sixth is the last one about Montenegro. The first three chapters of the second volume are travelogues, while the last one provides an overview of the history of Dalmatia from the arrival of the Slavs to 1814. At the end of that chapter, there is a brief overview of the history of uskok.

Wilhelm Adolf Lindau (Düsseldorf, 24/05/1774 - Dresden, 1/6/1849) - German lawyer, translator and writer. Studied law in Jena and Göttingen. Wrote literary and historical works. Translated and adapted foreign authors, especially English ones.
