Summary

Quentin Tarantino: Merciless Bastards

Screenplay

There are probably a few directors in the world who publish their film scripts in book form, but it is certainly only because of Quentin Tarantino's screenplay that readers stand in line in front of bookstores. Just as his films are lined up in front of movie theaters!
Because it is a supremely educational and emotional pleasure to follow Tarantino's creative process through the written script, to compare the text with a great film work, to find scenes in the script that were not filmed, or were filmed and not included in the final film version, to consider all the quotes that can only be read in the film after several consecutive viewings. It is known, namely, that Tarantino is a "freak from the video store" and that all his films are imbued with movie references; for music connoisseurs, due to the great choice of music in his films, he is a "freak from the disco", and after such a well-written script, he could without hesitation be given a new nickname: "freak from the library"!
To conclude: the film Nemilosrdni gadovi is an exceptional cinematic achievement, and the script for the film is an exceptional literary achievement, while publishing the translation of the book edition of Tarantino's script is a "freak", but also a cultural move without which the general culture in Croatia would be thoroughly deprived of following an important world cultural phenomenon
