Summary
Jean Pierre Esquenazi: Television series
As much a media phenomenon as a social phenomenon, television series have made a real boom on our screens in the last ten years. Although of secondary importance, they increasingly become the most attractive part of the television program. Television series, enthusiastically followed by audiences of all classes and ages, have become an important part of our cultural identity.
Television series - the future of film? tends to explain this extraordinary cultural and artistic phenomenon by pointing to its economic and cultural origins. It reveals the changes they caused in the production system as well as in the way of writing itself. Through numerous examples, from Star Trek to Two Meters Underground, from Mission Impossible to Sex and the City, new narrative forms and new aesthetics were analyzed and interpreted, through which complex worlds are presented and characters that are directly connected to our time are revealed.
