Leonid Andrejev: Satan's Diary In this novel, Andrejev enters the field of fantasy, which allows him to expand his talent and to release all that he has collected inside himself over the years. He saw how the modern world gives man, who for centuries before tried in every way to express his true nature, the opportunity to go one step further in his corruption. A novel full of symbols, metaphors with the character of Satan who tells his story of his earthly visit from the first person. Satan in the form of the American billionaire Vandergud comes to visit people. Out of sheer boredom and a desire to play, he comes into this world thinking that as Satan, master of acting and creator of lies, he can easily deal with funny men. He is proud, self-loving, eager for attention and applause. As such, he decided that the Earth would be his stage, and the people his audience, which he would deceive from beginning to end. With the certainty that only such a person can have, he came and began his game, believing that man, being small, insignificant, and in cunning and depravity not worthy of such a nature, would be only a puppet in his hands. He starts the game with incredible ease, a game that in some parts resembles a comedy. He laughs, enjoys playing an American billionaire, the body he has taken over and decides to philanthropically share his wealth with the world. However, as he is more and more overwhelmed by the qualities characteristic of man, sensitivity, compassion, admiration for the beautiful, and contempt for the ugly, sadness, joy, sensitivity to female beauty, his talents that he brought with him from his Ada fade. Satan struggles in his new suit.
