Marijan Grakalić: Soldier's Poems

"Soldier's Poems" is a collection of poetry by Marijan Grakalić, published in 2023, which through about fifty poems brings intimate reflections on the experiences of soldiers during the war.

The author, himself a participant in the Homeland War, uses verses close to prose in order to convey the atmosphere of everyday life in war, the feeling of tension, the proximity of death and reconciliation with fate. The songs are imbued with images of muddy trenches, the sounds of gunfire and the silence after battle, which evokes the anguished reality of soldiers. The collection was recognized by literary critics and included in the Anthology of Croatian Anti-War Poetry "Crickets and Trumpets".
