Summary
Nicholas Sparks: A Walk to Remember
The year is 1958 and seventeen-year-old Landon is enjoying his wild youth: he dates many girls and even declares his love for some. He is her complete opposite, Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of a local priest, who takes care of her father, does not separate herself from the Bible even at school and volunteers at an orphanage. But fate will interfere with its fingers. When they are forced to attend the school dance as partners, Landon and Jamie will discover a passionate love and experience a tremendous loss. In the following months, Landon will learn the true extent of human kindness and make a decision that will surprise many, and lead him irreversibly into the harsh world of adults.
This is perhaps Sparks' most poetic novel and will appeal to even the pickiest reader. As the author himself says: "First you'll cry, and then you'll cry - don't say I didn't warn you".
"Through Landon's rite of passage from an irresponsible youth to a selfless, loving man, Sparks reaffirms that he is a master at piercing the pillars of the soul." Booklist
