Summary
Spli's watercolor / Command of Marshal Marmont
Ivo Tijardović (1895 - 1976), composer, conductor, scenographer, costume designer, choreographer, painter, illustrator and the first intendant of Split's Croatian National Theater, with his overall work, permanently indebted not only Split, but also Croatian culture. In this commemorative book, along with the 110th anniversary of the author's birth, two librettos were printed: Spli's watercolor, which is well known to many generations because it still lives a full life on our theater boards, while the second command of Marshal Marmont was performed only a few times in its time, as an operetta, and has been completely forgotten. And while the Split watercolor is written in the Split Chakavian language, Marshal Marmont's order is written in a literary language, probably also because the events from the Split area spread to almost the whole of central Dalmatia. In the center of events is the former Republic of Poland in particular. These two librettos are valuable and interesting reading in reading the history of Split in almost the last two centuries and, what is even more interesting, many images and situations are still easily recognizable today. Occasional texts: Petar Selem and Marin Bego.
