Summary
P. D. James: Deceit and Longing
When P.D. James writes a novel about a serial killer, then it is much more than a suspenseful crime story. Although she inherited the flattering title of Queen of Crime from Agatha Christie, and was later even nicknamed Bloody Mamie, P.D. James has long been considered not only a representative of the criminal genre. He always includes burning social problems in his stories, calling his works moral dramas of the 20th century. Thus, in the novel Varke i čenje, the search for the eccentric strangler, the Whistleblower, takes place in parallel with the campaign of local activists against the management of the nuclear plant, which loomed menacingly over the landscape.
