Summary
Ivo Andrić: Closed Doors and Other Stories
"In the book Closed Doors and Other Stories, we publish twenty-nine short stories, many of which were not printed in Andrić's short story collections, and thus remained little known to the wider reading public. Collected and presented in this way chronologically, they give a clear picture of the writer's interests in the period from 1951 to the end of his life. Here we see a mature writer dealing with the psychological profile of the so-called little people, or is preoccupied with questions of the inner turmoil of his heroes, on the one hand a writer who builds his stories on themes and motifs related to the turbulent history of Bosnia, and then also an author who deals with the social side of his heroes' lives. A rare interesting book that shows the breadth of Andrić's literary interests and which will be a real revelation for many readers."
