Summary
Fyodor Mihajlovič Dostoevsky: The Yellow Beak
Translated by Zlatko Crnković
Written between Bjesov and The Brothers Karamazov, The Yellow Beak never attracted as much critical attention as Dostoevsky's other novels. Still, it is one of his five great novels and, while perhaps not as powerful as the others, it is unusually complex. It is rich in ideas and deals with a basic topic that was quite neglected in literature at the time. It deals with the psychology of the transition period in the life of every person, between early youth and maturity. And in fact, it is the only work of Dostoyevsky in which the main character really transforms, in which we can follow the development of his character.
