Pranjić Marko

Summary

Marko Pranjić: On the Beginnings of European Education

In this book, the author uses the Iliad and the Odyssey as a starting point for detecting ancient European pedagogical records, that is, the first educational ideas in Europe, which later had a strong impact on pedagogical theory and practice. The figure of Telemachus, son of Odysseus, is especially considered, on whose example the fundamental ancient Greek educational procedures are explained. The content of the book is divided into four parts: Ancient Greek roots of European education, Telemachus - an ancient Greek educational character, Telemachus' educational iter and Homer's education in the light of contemporary educational reflections.
