Summary
Achille Mbembe: The Universal Right to Breathe
"What we need is a voluntary and conscious pause, a pause with full consensus. Without it we can hardly have a tomorrow."
(letter from quarantine, March 2020)
Cameroonian philosopher and political theorist whose main research topics are African history, postcolonial studies, politics and social sciences. Although he is called a postcolonial theoretician, he has recently thoroughly rejected that label, because he sees his project as accepting and overcoming diversity, and not a return to the original, marginal, non-metropolitan homeland.
