Summary
Balkan route
Glossary of the European regime of irregular migration on the periphery of the EU
The Balkan route glossary tries to approach the current migration regime shaped by proscribed and criminalized migrant movements through Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and surrounding countries, using key terms. With the alphabetical arrangement of texts, references and other formal and substantive features, it follows the genre features of the lexicon. At the same time, due to the relative comprehensiveness in the elaboration of concepts, openness to their questioning and renunciation of neutrality, it is closer to a collection or collection of ethnographically based scientific texts. In addition to being a compendium, this glossary can also be read as an author's book with twenty-three explicitly (referrals) and implicitly (perspectives, topics, examples) tightly connected chapters that may or may not be read in sequence. The Balkan Route glossary is a collective work created within the framework of the four-year scientific research project European regime of irregular migration on the periphery of the EU: from ethnography to glossary (ERIM, 2020-2024) which brought together collaborators from Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia, from different institutions (Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, Ethnographic Institute SANU, Faculty of Social Work in Ljubljana, Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana in Zagreb and the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb) and from several scientific disciplines, connected by an interest in ethnographic research on migration regimes and engaged and critical perspectives and formats.
