Summary
Dmitrij Sergejevich Merezhkovski: Florentine Novels
A collection of short stories and short stories by a long-neglected and condemned Russian writer, which were written at the beginning of the 20th century and were successively included in world anthologies of the most beautiful novellas. The short novella "Love is stronger than death" describes the forbidden love between the beautiful Ginevra and the sculptor Antonio, while the novella "A Lesson in Love" describes the adventures of young Bucciolo, his professor and his lover Giovanna. In the long novella "Michelangelo", the author describes the urge of the painter to express the Christian theology of the Sistine Chapel vault with the ultimate physicality of what is painted, while in the novella "The Holy Satyr" he points to the unsustainable decline of Christianity and its disastrous consequences.
