Summary
Momčilo Petrović: Once upon a time in Serbia
Stories that show and prove that we have not learned any lessons from our rich, turbulent and glorious past. Readers are presented with nineteen stories about historical events and personalities. Many of these events were repeated in a slightly modified form, and we still feel their consequences today. The author exposed truths forced into oblivion, but which surface when we least expect them. The innocent victims he reminded us of, who for political reasons have been shamefully marginalized and suppressed from the collective consciousness, are demanding justice. The similarities between the inter-party conflicts of the late 19th century and today are too great to be coincidental. The same applies to the assassinations of Mihailo Obrenović and Zoran Đinđić. It is worth mentioning numerous historical figures whose fatal omissions and fatal mistakes did not serve as a lesson. We know the epilogue of most of the described events because we learned about them from textbooks or experienced them personally, but now they are illuminated in a new and specific way, so they read like the most exciting thrillers.
