Summary
Patricia D.Cornwell: From the Pauper's Cemetery
In a Christmas Eve charity event, Kay Scarpetta and Pete Marino distribute blankets to underprivileged Richmond children. But their plans for the Christmas holidays will dissolve along with the smoke of gunpowder and disappear like the echo of gunshots in the night. The corpse of a young black man at the door of the house in which they found themselves will be only a prelude.
Their sworn enemy Temple Brooks Gault, a serial killer with at least five victims on his bloody list, has his own plan to celebrate the holidays. A corpse was found in New York's Central Park with Gault's clear criminal signature. Now everything else will have to wait until the tracks in the snow are read and the dead body of an unknown young woman reveals the last secret and sets Dr. Scarpetta on the right path.
Dr. Kay Scarpetta's sixth case.
