Summary
Jelica Karlić-Kapetanović: Juraj Najdhart: life and work
Juraj Najdhart, life and work - monograph about one of the most important architects from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This reissue of the book first published in 1990 by the publishing house Veselin Masleša is a kind of homage to Neidhardt himself, but also a dedication to the author Jelica Karlić-Kapetanović, who collected and arranged the material of this story for decades. Juraj Neidhardt's impressive career clearly shows that local cultural and architectural heritage can be translated into modern language by understanding and transcending the context. As the author points out in several places, with Neidhardt we constantly return to scale, rhythm and proportion, and how line, surface and volume build space.
This book, as a guide through Neidhardt's work, is valuable to new generations of architects and students of architecture, to everyone who deals with space in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, but also to readers who want to read a strong story about dedication and perseverance in the fight for their own ideas and attitudes.
