Summary
The Geography of Disappearance is a fascinating mix of different genres: memoirs, testimonies, narrative prose, essays, sociological and political studies... The author succeeds in combining different modes because he is an experienced journalist, writer, academic worker and someone who has dedicated his whole life, in different ways and in different modes, to the study of human possibilities and scale evil, so in this manuscript all his previous experiences are united. The Geography of Disappearance is a work of which there are not many in our culture and which, in its fertile hybridity, an almost natural connection of the subjective and the objective, approaches, to the extreme limits, the understanding of the era we lived through and which we still live today as the current reality of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The assumptions of this reality, the path to it, are described in this manuscript in such a way that we understand it not only intellectually, through external rationalization, but also internally, i.e. the way Goethe understood understanding in its fullness.
