Summary
Gaši is a canoeist who represented Yugoslavia in international competitions for more than ten years. He was born in Brčko in 1957; at the age of 18, he was the junior champion of Yugoslavia and twice participated in the European junior championship. In the senior competition, Gaši was the champion of Yugoslavia five times, and a member of the national team at the World Marathon Championship in 1992. At the beginning of the war, he was arrested and taken to Luka, the death camp, one of the most terrible torture camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina where, among others, prisoners were brutally tortured by Goran Jelisić, better known as Serbian Adolf, and his girlfriend Monika Karan Ilić. Gaši was also one of the prosecution witnesses before the International Court for War Crimes in The Hague. This book is a poignant testimony of the calvary he experienced and survived.
