Summary
Aleksandra Vuletić: Marriage in modern Serbia
Marriage is the oldest and most important social institution in which the interests of the state, church, society and individual are intertwined and collide. This book examines marriage through the influence of the aforementioned actors in Serbia in the 19th and 20th centuries - at the time of the creation of the modern state and society. Prevailing opinions about marriage in the general public are also presented, especially about marriage "from the inside" - from the perspective of the spouses themselves. Scenes from the married life of ordinary, "small" people, which are rarely visible in traditional historiography, have been reconstructed. Through an insight into the married life of women and men of that time - into their emotional world, desires, aspirations, needs, worries and problems, the perspective from which the modern reader usually observes Serbian society in the past is not only expanded, but also significantly changed. evils follow young men and women, and in this way they are called the father and mother of the murderers of their children."
