Summary
Michael Coney: Hello, summer, goodbye
The original variation of already known sci-fi motifs is the main virtue of Michael Coney's work. He rarely ventures into new thematic waters, choosing traditional SF plot models, reviving and refreshing them with his writing skills. The novel "Hello, Summer, Goodbye" (1975) gained the greatest popularity. The action takes place on a planet similar to Earth, whose population is significantly more susceptible to CLIMATE CHANGES and the MUTATIONS caused by them. Their civilization is at a level of development that roughly corresponds to our year 1875. WAR is raging on the planet, and in a small fishing and tourist town we follow the CONFLICT OF THE RULING ELITE AND THE ORDINARY PEOPLE who perceive the war as an unevenly distributed burden.
