Summary

The Republic of Dubrovnik in the writings of the Ottoman sultans: with an analytical inventory of the sultan's writings of the Acta Turcarum series of the State Archives in Dubrovnik / Vesna Miović; [translator Vesna Baće]

In the State Archives in Dubrovnik, about 2,000 sultanic documents issued between 1458 and 1804 are stored. The author selected these documents from the Acta Turcarum archival fund, studied them, and arranged them in chronological order. She compiled a detailed inventory in which each individual document is presented through the following information: place of issue, date of issue, addressee, brief content of the document. She also wrote an introductory study on Dubrovnik-Ottoman relations, and on the types of sultan's writings according to the rules of Ottoman diplomacy.
