Summary
Ivo Žanić: Deceived history. Fiddler show, hajduk cult and war in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina
Fiddler show, hajduk cult and war in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina 1990 - 1995. In the book Fraudulent History, Ivo Žanić uses the method of content analysis to examine the symbolic reconstruction of reality and the return to tradition and the epic imaginary before and during the wars in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, considering these phenomena to be very important in understanding war events. Analytical and with many interesting observations, the book observes the connection of the epic traditional imaginary, transmitted by tambourine and fiddle, with political conflicts and war cataclysm in the territories of the former Yugoslavia. He also precisely differentiates the role and importance of the traditional complex among individual participants in the mentioned areas and thereby contributes to the knowledge of social mentalities and the collective consciousness of all actors in the process of transition from socialism to democracy and the collapse of the multinational state.
