Summary
Aleks Dragnić: Tito's Promised Land Yugoslavia
This is a book about communism in Yugoslavia. It is a study that deals with the coming of the communists to power, the way they lead the country and the consequences for the Yugoslav people. Its goal is to present a descriptive analysis of Tito's regime and to evaluate his prospects for the future.
This book had already gone to press when Milovan Đilas, one of the top Yugoslav communists, was removed from power in January 1954. His expulsion, followed by the purge of other party members, does not change the basic conclusions about Tito's regime presented in this book, but, in fact, confirms them even more. It also shows how fast events are happening and that therefore no study of this type can fully keep up with events.
