Summary
Toni Liversage: The Great Goddess: About Female Figures Over 25,000 Years
An exciting book about the representation of women and the female body in culture, tradition, religion and everyday life. Starting from prehistoric female figures - the oldest of which are almost 25,000 years old - the Danish writer Toni Liversage traces in an intriguing and interesting way the long period of time that gave birth to societies, cultures and religions in which female deities occupy a central place. With the development of patriarchy, these religions gradually disappear, and the dominant role is taken over by the male (Christian) deity, which brings about a change in the role and self-knowledge of women and men. In the richly illustrated book Big Goddess, Toni Liversage presents new theses and knowledge about female figures - goddesses - who were found mainly in the area of "Old Europe" (Balkans, Eastern Europe, Southern Italy and Asia Minor).
