Simeon Piščević: History of the Serbian Nation

The book History of the Serbian Nation by Simeon Piščević was written in the last years of the 18th century in imperial Russia, but it has not been published until today. This precious manuscript was kept in the family, until the author's great-grandson handed it over to Nilo Aleksandrovich Popov, a Russian Slavist, historian and archeographer. Today, the manuscript is kept in the SAN Archive in Belgrade. Piščević's History of the Serbian People covers the period from ancient times, the migration of peoples up to the middle of the 18th century. Today, it is not only important as a historical work, but also as a source about the time in which it was created, about the method and criticism of sources used by historians of the 18th century.
