Konstantin Nikiforov, historian, expert in the new and contemporary history of the Balkans who researches the problems of the history of Serbia and other countries of the former Yugoslavia, as well as international relations in the Balkans from the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, in this book considers important events in the history of the Serbian people in the 20th century against a broad Balkan background. At the center of the research are the peculiarities of its statehood in different historical forms - as the Kingdom of Serbia and as the Republic of Serbia at the end of the last and the beginning of the current century, and also as part of Karađorđević's, Tito's and Milošević's Yugoslavia. Special attention is given to the various processes that took place in the Balkans in the last century and that influenced Serbian history in the most direct way. The book is intended for both experts and anyone interested in the history of Serbia and the Balkans.
