Summary
Vesna Kilibarda: Njegoš and Italian culture
The book brings together Italian topics related to Peter II Petrović Njegoš, looking at his contacts with Italian culture and placing the Montenegrin bishop and poet in the less studied Adriatic-Mediterranean context, to which he essentially belonged and to which he was most directly and continuously referred both in his personal life and in his ruling activities. The book talks about Njegoš's knowledge of Italian culture, his compositions of Italian inspiration, different types of reception of his character and work in Italian literature, as well as his relations with Niccolo Tomase, an Italian writer who, as one of the few of his contemporaries, wrote negatively about Njegoš.
