Summary
Milena Dragićević Šešić: The Art and Culture of Resistance
It is an excellently written and very well-documented book, the best part of which is dedicated to the aesthetics of contemporary post-dramatic theater, practices that not only do not use the dramatic text as their starting point, but also erase the boundaries between the arts: from performance art to the theater of the oppressed and invisible theater of August Boal, who found his followers in the Dah Theater and in the engaged theater of Zorica Jevremović.

This study manages to approach the subject of research from multiple perspectives, pointing out the scope and meanings of artistic practices. She shows that art can precede social rebellion, articulating the essence of the problem through artistic means; that the artistic practice is a paradigm of the social process and thereby legitimizes it aesthetically; to be inspired by the rebellion and keep its spirit alive, and to remain in the possession of the actor even when the rebellion becomes a historical fact, regardless of whether it is a victory or a defeat.
