Summary
Manly Palmer Hall: Astrology and Reincarnation
The work of one of the most significant esotericists of the 20th century.
Increased interest in the doctrine of reincarnation in our time has, to a certain extent, gained the attention of empirical sciences as well. A number of distinguished scholars have written well-documented books dealing with past life memory. It is more than obvious that the writing of books on this topic is gaining momentum.
Although there is a general trend of dealing with scientific materialism, the multiplication of social complexities puts the problem of life after death in the focus of serious studies. If we were to accept conscious immortality, it would become obvious that the problem of the state of the soul after separation from the body must be carefully considered. The only question left would be how long it would take to prove and confirm the number of rebirths. Until then, belief or disbelief in this phenomenon will remain in conflict.
Astrology is another controversial phenomenon that attracts a lot of public attention. Thanks to ubiquitous computerization, almost every aspect of predictions can be subjected to scientific scrutiny. Astrology and reincarnation have been embraced by many eminent minds of the past - and this is only natural since these two beliefs have much in common. If we have already lived once, we would be interested in investigating, if possible, the place, time and circumstances of our previous existence. For many reasons, certainly, this knowledge can produce painful consequences. Because the greatest number of people cannot recall the uncomfortable situation of their present existence. The walls of Borobudur, the remains of a magnificent Buddhist edifice in Java, are decorated with scenes from the Buddha's six hundred previous lives. Only a perfectly enlightened person can contemplate such a panorama of previous births and remain calm in mind.
