According to United Nations data, about four percent of the world's adult population (between the ages of 15 and 64) used cannabis in 2005. In other words, about 160 million people worldwide used marijuana or hashish for religious, recreational, health and other purposes. Despite such a large number of users, cannabis still causes sharp divisions: for some, it is a harmless drug that should be legalized, while for others it is the key to the gates of hell. The truth is probably somewhere between those extremes, so this little book about cannabis will try to provide an objective picture of the "virtues" and "flaws" of this ancient plant, about its history and the place it occupied (and occupies) in human society, especially when it comes to its medical use. The book uses material that comes from various "serious" and "non-serious" encyclopedias, books, magazines, underground literature and life itself, and was chosen with the idea of being an interesting reminder for those who already know something about cannabis, that is, a useful manual for those who just want to find out, regardless of the reasons...
