This book contains essays about food that I have published since the nineties of the 20th century. The first ones I started to publish, in the "Time of Enjoyment" section of Vreme magazine, did not make it into this collection, except for an essay on French cheeses, which I conceptualized differently twenty years later. Also, the text of the introduction to Apicius' book of recipes, which I published in Latin in 1989 and translated for the Zagreb collection of classical texts Latina&Graeca, was not included in the book, because it is quite specifically directed. Also, the research on cabbage and sexuality, which appeared in the Slovenian language towards the end of last year, was not included in the book. I am unusually sorry that my book of recipes Poor Kitchen, which I handed over to the publisher "Književna zajednica Novi Sad" just before the war, was never published. Technical and other conditions were such that the manuscript simply - at least for me - disappeared. On the other hand, the book includes many essays that have not been published before, but are inspired by the main theme and my existing works.
