Dylan Bob

Summary

Bob Dylan: Poems 1961 - 2012

"In front of the readers is the poetic work of one of the greatest living legends of the last and this century; the entire fifty-year poetic creation of Bob Dylan. The public has the opportunity for the first time to be convinced in one place of the fact that this singer-songwriter is first and foremost a writer. Or he is not. But, in order to make a judgment and an individual attitude on this subject, the sequence of moves must be respected: first Dylan's poetry must be made available to the public so that it can be read. Because, until the American edition of this book appeared, and on the occasion of receiving the Nobel Prize for literature, it could be said that Dylan as a writer was not completely (and properly) read even in the English-speaking world. expanded with the accompanying texts that precede each album, that is, Dylan's poetic period, as well as the introductory text. The editors of the Notni spisi have enriched all these lyrics with selected details, as well as an introduction that deals with Dylan primarily as a writer. context.
The book contains almost three hundred songs, about a hundred of which were never found on Dylan's albums. Most of them are appearing in public for the first time; they did not become part of the music, and they were never performed. In the book, they are marked as Additional poems. All in all, we give the reader a glimpse of all the richness of a poetic career that has no end."

Vladislav Bajac

"Art does not live by answering questions, but by questions to which there are no answers... With his songs, Dilan described, marked and to a large extent defined the 20th century, but to a large extent also the 21st century. If this is so, and it is, then eternity is not far away either."

Zoran Paunović

"The Pulitzer Prize for his enormous contribution to popular music and American culture marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."

From the explanation of the Pulitzer Prize 2008 jury.

"The Nobel Prize is awarded for the creation of new poetic expressions within the great American poetic tradition... Dylan can and should be read as a great poet of the English (language) tradition... It is poetry for listening."

From the explanation of the Nobel Prize for Literature 2016 committee.
